One of the very few members of the cultural establishment who called attention to the coup of November 22, 1963 was Mort Sahl, who died October 26, 2021 at the tender age of 94. His comedy career soared in the 1950s and then crashed when he started talking about the Warren Dulles commission as a grotesque lie, even going so far as to work the Jim Garrison, the district attorney of New Orleans and the only official who tried to prosecute a conspirator.

Just before the pandemic he was doing weekly talks / shows in Mill Valley, CA. I went to one of them but he was not feeling well enough to show up. Never got to meet him. Friends who did attend on different nights said his body looked "like a corpse" but his mind was still sharp.

The only other comedian who focused on the Kennedy assassination was Bill Hicks, who died of cancer as a young man. It’s fascinating that the entertainment complex almost completely avoided this except for flippant approaches. That attitude is a key factor behind our current crises.
